Actresses

 I was just thinking, it's kind of odd that I don't have any favorite live action actresses. I have favorite actors, and favorite voice actresses (Tara Strong and Sue Blu are goddesses), but I don't have any live action actresses I'm like, totally devoted to, watch-anything-they're-in like I am about Jeffrey Combs or Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

I think maybe it's that in the genres I favor, sci-fi and fantasy, female characters don't get to show the range that male characters do, so I don't get to see much of the actresses's chops. I mean, Barbara Crampton and Cathy Cherry Yuzna are awesome in From Beyond. Creepy mad scientist rivalry FTW. But they don't have much material outside of Gordon/Yuzna films.

Labyrinth is droolworthy all around, but Jennifer Connelly is pretty well upstaged by David Bowie's hair.

I loved Natalie Portman in Black Swan, but I've just never seen another movie where she's that interesting.

I don't know. Anyone have any recs? I tend to latch onto actors who are good at being sexy/adorable/a little unhinged all at once. Any ladies fit the profile?

I adore Jodie Foster for all of those reasons (sexy, adorable, a little unhinged)

I've always been a big fan of Cate Blanchett.

And I'll forever be a Meryl Streep fan. She is my goddess.

Those are definitely going on the list. Any recs for a good place to start appreciating Foster?

Nell and Contact are two of my favorites. I was thinking she was in Fried Green Tomatoes, but that was Mary Stuart Masterson and Mary-Louise Parker (and Kathy Bates, whom I also love)

I'm not really a ~fan~ of any celebrity, I don't have any favourites, but as far as actresses go, I don't think I've ever seen Scarlett Johansson in any role that I didn't like?
But then, if I think about ti really hard, I'm not sure if I've seen her in anything but the Marvel Universe movies and We Bought A Zoo.
