 So. It's been a few months since Momo died. And I'm not over it, not by half. But I think I'm ready to love again, so I've been looking at Petfinders a lot lately.

I was thinking I wanted a slinky black cat to sit around looking like a soot sprite, but when I was looking through the listings of the local rescue, I found this gorgeous one-eyed tabby girl and fell head over heels for her. We visited today, and even though she's listed online as ready for adoption, the volunteer we talked to wasn't sure. So I'm going to call again tomorrow when the owner's there and make sure. She's a feral girl, and very skittish. Especially leery of hands coming at her face. Which I can't blame her for. The eye loss was recent, and I'm sure she's had some bad times at the vet.

There's also a handful of young black cats that'll be ready to adopt on Friday. I can't wait, I'm so excited. It does seem like one-eyed girl gets along with other cats, so it should be good for them having two. They can keep each other company. The black siblings are feral too. The volunteer was understandably concerned about whether we were prepared for kitties that aren't too friendly yet. I kind of want to bring a note in from my vet saying how much experience I have with difficult animals, lol. Momo, rest her soul, was a psycho. When I was a kid I helped my mom take care of a feral colony by our house (feed-trap-vaccinate-fix-home if possible-release if not-lather-rinse-repeat). When I learned to drive, my mom told me she'd pay for gas if I did all the vet runs. So I'd show up with two people in carriers and one on a leash and get them all seen to.

I'd love to have a couple of shy kitties. I would give them their space and offer love and let them learn about people being okay <3

The volunteer was really excited when she heard we wanted a black cat. "Bless you!" I've heard they're hard to adopt, since it's hard to take a good picture of them. Personally, I like the eyeballs staring out from a mass of black look, but I guess some folks want a pet with a visible face. Hmph. And I bet the superstitions don't help. I hear in the UK, black cats are good luck, which makes more sense to me. I mean, hey. You found a cat. Your day's looking up already.

There was this huge, beautiful panther-looking boy named Clyde, too. He's eight or nine years old, and his owner was deployed and had to give him up. He's been having a real rough time of it. He's nervous about strangers, poor thing. I hope someone good finds him.

So, yeah. Cats!

Update: So, tabby girl is not ready to be adopted. She's on the 'adoptable pets' section of the website by mistake. I asked if I could be notified when she is ready to be adopted, and the owner of the rescue said no, because that would jinx her. That is, if the owner agreed to tell me when the cat was ready, the cat would never be ready. I'm not sure what to say.

The result: It's been about a week now, and I feel like I'm in a good position to give my opinion on this conditioner.

It's really, really volumizing. Oh my god. The volume. I don't even.

I know, I should've known this from the copy (and the name), but most volumizing products don't take me past my naturally high baseline of fluffiness. This one does.

Since it's not the eighties right now, I'm not going to buy this again, but I will recommend it for anyone with flat or thin hair, or anyone who wants to look like one of the Holograms.
